Here's The Happenings: |
Science: Our new unit is States of Matter, Temperature, and Atoms! We began exploring the states of matter, specifically what is happening at a particle level as these forms of matter change. I hope that solids, liquids, and gases can have a deeper meaning now, as the kids picture the moving particles!
Homework Due 1/14: States of Matter Video Assignment
Math: Unit 4 (Chapter 1-7th GB)-Adding & Subtracting Rational Numbers Your students amaze me!! They are catching onto the addition of integers so well! We worked on this skill this week with three ways that we can show our “addition”- numberline, using counters, and a t-chart with counters. Next week we will continue our addition with rational numbers and then move onto subtraction. Yay!
Homework: None :)
Social Studies: Students will be learning about The French Revolution. We will learn about Napoleon Bonaparte and his rise to power, and his final battle at Waterloo. We will take the unit assessment at the end of the week. |

English: Our 6th graders have begun reading the epic poems The Iliad and The Odyssey. Through these texts, students explored the fascinating myths and events that led up to the start of the Trojan War. This background knowledge will help them better understand the characters, conflicts, and themes in these classic works. Ask your student what they’ve learned about the causes of the Trojan War—it’s a great way to spark conversation and deepen their understanding! I want to give a shout-out to all 6th graders who received awards this morning. I am so proud of all they have accomplished during their first semester of middle school. Writing & Research: This week in Writing and Research, students began by discussing their academic goals for the semester. We then focused on elevating their writing by incorporating a variety of transition words to improve flow and clarity. Moving forward, this class will continue to strengthen students’ writing skills through structured practice, research-based assignments, and lessons on new grammar concepts. Encourage your child to share some of the transition words they’ve learned and how they plan to use them in their writing! |
