Academics: ***We are in the midst of our CMAS testing.*** Thank you for having such amazing students. They are truly doing an outstanding job and continue to be very impressive humans. As a teacher, I use this data to determine: -If your child is on grade level -If they are in need of intervention or an advanced learning plan -How I should group students in order to ensure optimal learning during partner/group projects As a class, I use them to identify: -Any gaps that exist that I need to fill and -Subjects that I can accelerate due to a broad knowledge base. -Identify areas I need to further develop my instruction -Evaluate our curriculum and it's effectiveness in preparing my fourth graders for fifth grade Some may ask, "Isn't that why you do NWEA and Dibels?" I use all three of these assessments together to create a full picture of where your child is on their learning journey. CMAS is the only norm based assessment we administer that evaluates writing and compares it to a broad base of students.
It would be an extreme kindness if any appointments/absences could be scheduled in the afternoon. As a thank you, your child will not have homework during the two weeks of testing. Thank you and I appreciate your support of our classroom!
CKLA Your student should be able to discuss with you: -Who were the Sons of Liberty? -What was the Boston Massacre? -What were the Intolerable Acts? -Who said, "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death?" -When was the Declaration of Independence signed? -Who fired the shot heard around the world?
Math Your student is continuing to learn how to multiply whole numbers and fractions. The lessons build upon prior knowledge your student has about unit fractions and mixed numbers. Area models will help your student visualize multiplication with fractions. By the end of this chapter, your student should feel confident with the learning targets and success criteria. Encourage your student to think of contexts in which multiplying whole numbers and fractions is used. Have a great time multiplying with your student!
Science: We will explore natural resources and how they are used for energy this week.
Riggs Returns Students will be introduced to new lists this week. Lists will be sent home in mailboxes. |
