Academics:
CKLA We are tip-toing into Contemporary Fiction and taking a gander at The House on Mango Street. Students are learning about the importance of descriptive writing and how it helps to create a visual in your head as a reader. Ask them about their own descriptive writing about their dream house.
Math: We will continue to learn about fractions this week and wrap up our unit on customary measures with an assessment.
I would ask for your assistance with this unit. When I was little, my mom took away the one cup measure in our house and made me figure out how to bake various items without it using the 1/4, 1/3 and 1/2 cup. While I thought this was extremely mean and abusive, it turns out it really helped me learn about equivalent fractions. If you have time, patience, and want to try this, it will greatly increase your student's understanding.
Grammar: Your student is working to conquer compound nouns and verbs. They will continue to work with conjunctions as well as practice possessive pronoun adjectives, master subject pronouns and review the realm of "You Understood".
