Academics:
CKLA Five paragraph essays are complete, or so your kiddo thinks : ) This week they will review feedback on their essays, then revise and edit to create an even better piece of writing! After learning about types of mountains and undersea processes, we will also wrap up our Geology Unit with a domain assessment on Friday.
Math: We have moved past the very concrete "showing fraction equivalence with models" into using multiplication and division to create equivalent fractions. Please ask your child: "If I multiply my denominator, what happens to the numerator?" and vice versa.
I would ask for your assistance with this unit. When I was little, my mom took away the one cup measure in our house and made me figure out how to bake various items without it using the 1/4, 1/3 and 1/2 cup. While I thought this was extremely mean and abusive, it turns out it really helped me learn about equivalent fractions. If you have time, patience, and want to try this, it will greatly increase your student's understanding.
Grammar: Your student is working to conquer compound nouns and verbs. They will continue to work with conjunctions as well as practice possessive pronoun adjectives, master subject pronouns and review the realm of "You Understood".
