Academics:

Last week we talked about the Theory of Plate Tectonics, Continental Drift, Pangea and Earthquakes. This week, we will continue to shake things up (hahaha) by looking at some myths around volcanos, and my favorite, the rock cycle. It's amazing to me that when I pick up a rock, I could be holding millions of years of Earth's history in my hand. It's unbelievable!

Your student will also choose one of our processes (Earthquakes, Weathering, Erosion, the Rock Cycle, Volcanoes, Hydro-thermal vents etc.) to write a five paragraph essay about. The essay will be completed during school. Here's where you come in. At home, your student needs to make SOMETHING (a poster, diorama, lego model, experiment etc.) to represent their learning. There are a plethora of project ideas available. The project AND writing assignment will be presented to the class on Friday, February 6th. Please see attached rubric and project guidelines.

Math:

Everybody memorized their divisibility rules-hooray! This week we will wrap up unit 6 with an assessment on Wednesday. Then, it's on to fractions!

Grammar:

We will continue to practice Possessive Pronoun Adjectives, work on mastering subject pronouns and review the realm of "You Understood".
