Weekly Update

What's Happening This Week:

We have finished ALL End of Year Benchmark Testing!! I am so proud of all of your students! They did such a great job! I will be sharing the NWEA and DIBELS data with you in the next couple of weeks once all reports are finalized. These will come home with your student. CMAS results will be accessible later this summer (more information from Admin to come).

The countdown is ON!! The final weeks and days of school are bearing down on us! We have so much to accomplish over the next couple of weeks! I know this is a crazy time for everyone. Please encourage your student to finish the year strong! There is little time to make up for less than great effort.

This week:

We will wrap up identifying 2-d shapes this week. We will also take an end-of-course assessment to see where students may need more support this fall.

We will also work on some different math activities to continue to review what we've learned this year!

We have wrapped up our American Civil War content. Students are working on their research essays and projects. Essays will be due on Wednesday at the end of the day. If students missed class work time due to NWEA testing, they will be given more time this week. I am hopeful to have ALL essays by Friday to allow adequate time for grading!

We started our Native Americans unit on Friday. We will have to work extra hard the next two weeks to make sure we can get through all of it before grades are due! We will also be adding in Westward Expansion After the Civil War also. This unit is much shorter than the Native Americans unit.

We will continue our Wonder Novel Study this week. This is one of my favorite books. We often have amazing conversations throughout the book. I ask students to self-reflect during discussion and writing prompts.

We started Native Americans on Friday and will add Westward Expansion After the Civil War soon.

I am hoping we will be able to touch on the 50 States and Capitals also but time will be tight for this.

We will take our final Orthographic this week. We will also use some of this time to work towards finishing Native Americans and Westward Expansion.

This may also be used as writing time Tuesday and Wednesday.

Our final major essay of the year will be due by the end of the day Wednesday. Students who missed class/writing time due to NWEA testing will be given more time -- aiming to be finished by Friday, end of day.

I am going to attempt another special writing project the last week of school. More info for you and your student to come!
