As a class, the data is used to identify:
As an Intermediate team/teacher team we triangulate data samples to include CMAS, NWEA and Dibels to create a whole picture of student learning. CMAS is the only norm based assessment we administer that evaluates writing and compares it to a broad base of students.

This week: |
The students all worked so hard this week and we were able to get through ALL of Customary measurements and conversions as well as metric measurements and conversions. We will take a short assessment to ensure understanding on Tuesday and move into reviewing Coordinate Plan, Volume, and 2-d/3-d shapes to wrap up the year. |
We will continue working through our American Civil War unit! I have broken this unit up into 4 different sections/packets to make it slightly easier with testing. We have wrapped up most of the the second packet and jumped into the third packet to address the major battles within the war. We will wrap up the third packet early next week. Then we will return to the second packet and the fourth packet to give students additional information to help them with their research essays and projects. Students need to be caught up with packets two and three by Tuesday if they are not!
Something students need to remember is that just because I don't collect the worksheets every day, they need to keep up with it.
There WILL be an individual project that comes with this unit. We have brainstormed multiple topic ideas and students should have a pretty good idea about their topic of choice. We should have time to get these going. Students will NOT be able to work on essays at home, however, the projects themselves, if they need additional time - home is fine for that.
We will continue our Wonder Novel Study this week. This is one of my favorite books. We often have amazing conversations throughout the book. I ask students to self-reflect during discussion and writing prompts. |
As we get closer to finishing the Civil War next week, we will add in Native Americans and Westward Expansion After the Civil War.
I am hoping we will be able to touch on the 50 States and Capitals also but time will be tight for this. |
No new lists until after CMAS! We WILL review and practice Civil War content specific words to ensure students understand the vocabulary. |
We won't have another major essay due until after CMAS/NWEA testing when we complete our final End of Year writing assessment with our Civil War Research Project. More info to come. |
