This week: |
We will continue with Chapter 9 - Multiplying Fractions as well as combining with Chapter 10 - Dividing Decimals. I teach these two chapters together because if you can multiply fractions you can divide them!
We will continue to work in small groups with Mrs. Herman to work on volume as well as Coordinate Plane. I would like to add a group with Mrs. Minne as well. In order for that to happen, students need to be able to focus during instructional time. Concepts worked on in small group will *NOT* be homework, unless students cannot stay on task. |
We will continue looking at many of the major European Kings and Queens of the era. This is a very short unit, we will wrap up the lessons on Wednesday. Students will complete a Figurehead Silhouette Project in class over the next few days. They should have plenty of time to complete it in class before it is due on Wednesday, March 11th.
Poetry will be our next major unit. This will take us through Spring Break and end as we start End of Year testing.
We will be starting our Wonder Novel Study this week. This is one of my favorite books. We often have amazing conversations throughout the book. It is quite long so it will take us through March and into April. I hope to be able to watch the movie at the end. |
We previewed our next Science Unit - Investigating Matter before break. We have multiple science experiments we can do with this unit to better our understanding of matter and how it changes. Students need to be able to show and practice lab safety to participate. |
New lists will start again this week. Please see the separate post for the new lists.
New lists are current content based across subjects. Lists will only have 3 words. Students will be required to write each word with markings 4 times each, look up each word in the dictionary (writing down part of speech, page number and proper definition), and writing a sentence using each word correctly.
New lists will be posted to Parent Square. |
We have worked hard on our informative writing as well as narrative writing. Students will continue to work on various writing prompts.
We will have a Figurehead Summary to go with our Golden Age Figurehead Silhouette's this week.
We won't have another major essay due until after CMAS/NWEA testing when we complete our final End of Year writing assessment with our Civil War Research Project. More info to come. |
