This week: |
We will wrap up Chapter 7 - Dividing Decimals this week. We will complete the Chapter Practice on Tuesday with the Chapter 7 assessment on Wednesday. Thursday will be a brief look at Chapter 9 - Multiplying Fractions before we deep dive when we return.
After break, we will continue to work in small groups with Mrs. Herman to work on volume as well as Coordinate Plane. I would like to add a group with Mrs. Minne as well. In order for that to happen, students need to be able to focus during instructional time. Concepts worked on in small group will *NOT* be homework, unless students cannot stay on task. |
We wrapped up our Reformation Unit and instead of jumping forward in history to the American Civil War, we started our Golden Age unit with follows directly behind Reformation in timing. We will be looking at many of the major European Kings and Queens of the era. Students learned about Queen Elizabeth I on Friday. We had some great conversations around how she was finally crowned Queen, what type of ruler she was and challenges she faced before becoming Queen.
Ask your student who plotted to kill her. (Bloody Mary and Mary Queen of Scots.)
We will wrap up the final chapter of Little Women on Tuesday and watch the remaining 30 or so minutes of the movie on Thursday. Students will write their own alternate ending on Wednesday as the culminating activity for the novel.
We will start a new novel study after break. |
We have been learning about Energy and Matter in Ecosystems the past few weeks. We will wrap up this unit reading on Tuesdays. Students will have a crossword and vocabulary review packet to work on as the assessment. It MUST be turned in on Friday before they leave - even if it is incomplete. |
We will NOT have New Lists in the next few weeks before break. We will be using that time for our February Orthographic, as well as working on other Grammar and Language Arts skills.
New lists are current content based across subjects. Lists will only have 3 words. Students will be required to write each word with markings 4 times each, look up each word in the dictionary (writing down part of speech, page number and proper definition), and writing a sentence using each word correctly.
New lists will be posted to Parent Square. |
Students will be writing their alternative ending to Little Women on Wednesday.
We will continue working on writing skills through various activities. |
